If you are interested in Alternative Teacher Certification training we recommend INSPIRE by ESC Region 4 or, for those interested in a local option, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB).


Region 12 and Region 4 have joined efforts in a partnership to train teachers throughout the Waco and surrounding areas. INSPIRE Texas is a comprehensive online curriculum that prepares candidates throughout the state, regardless of geographical location.

  • NSPIRE Texas a nationally rated educator preparation program operated through Region 4 Education Service Center. Region 4 ESC serves over 1.2 million students in the Houston metro area. The state is divided into 20 regions with service centers established by the Texas Legislature to assist all local school districts, charter and private schools.

    INSPIRE Texas is a comprehensive online curriculum that prepares candidates throughout the state, regardless of geographical location. 

  • INSPIRE Texas is dedicated to the success of our candidates! Once you join the program, you will be assigned a high-quality instructor who is an experienced educator. A cyber-coordinator is also available for any technical issues since learning is remote. When you begin an internship, you will be hired by an accredited school district, charter or private school as the teacher of record. During that year of teaching, you will be assigned a local field supervisor who will observe you six times, meet with your mentor and principal, and help develop you into the best teacher you can be! The field supervisor will observe you in person at the school.

  • The INSPIRE Texas coursework lasts for 24 weeks. You can specialize in special education, ESL, or bilingual education. The state has added the Science of Teaching Reading (STR) for those seeking:

    • Core Subjects EC-6 (Elementary)
    • Core Subjects 4-8 (Middle School)
    • 4-8 ELAR (English Language Arts) 
    • 4-8 ELAR/SS (English Language Arts / Social Studies)
  • Yes. There will be textbooks used in the online training for your success in the classroom. 
  • Yes! After completing the coursework, internship, and passing all exams, you will be certified to teach throughout the state.

  • Option 1: Paid in Full

    $4,995 due the first night of the program

    Option 2: Month-to-Month

    $500 due the first night of the program

    $360 per month for the following 14 months

    Payments via Payroll Deduction or Credit Card auto draft are preferred.


    Funding Sources Accepted by TPCP:

  • TPCP Program fee for single certification (includes textbooks): $5,500 (or $4,995 if paid upfront)

    Affordable monthly payment plan is offered. Call for details. 

    There is a separate surcharge of $35.00 due to TEA for technology expenses

    Possible Additional Program Fees:

    • $600 Add on Certification (Special Education or Bilingual)
    • $750 Employment outside Region 12 during the internship year
    • $400 One Year Intern Certification

    Fees required by the State Board for Educator Certification and paid to outside agencies:

    • $116 - Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) - usually two required during Pre-service
    • $41.25 - Fingerprint Fee - required before receiving Probationary Certificate
    • $78 - Probationary Certificate - required for internship year
    • $78 - Intern Certificate - one year certificate
    • $78 - Standard Certificate - at completion of program

  • Training designed to prepare teachers to integrate technology into classroom instruction and implement the principles of universal design for learning:


    • Coursework includes online training requiring teachers to understand how to use a virtual classroom and well as manage one. 
    • Introduction to ISTE standards with an opportunity to explore and utilize those standards
    • 4 hours of training on integrating technology in to classroom instruction. 
    • 2 hours of training on technology for classroom management and building relationships with students.
    • 4 hours of Emerging Technology/ Passion Based Learning training


    Training designed to prepare teachers to use technology to analyze and manage date in order to improve student achievement: 

  • Credit for Credentials



     A military service member or military veteran may submit training credentials for review, that were accrued during verified military service, training, or education to be counted toward the training, education, work experience, or related requirements (other than certification examinations) for educator certification requirements, provided that the military service, training, or education is directly related to the certificate being sought; and


     Candidates who are not military service members or military veterans may submit credentials for review, to be counted towards training, from prior service, training, or education, provided that the experience, education, or training is not also counted as a part of the internship, clinical teaching, or practicum requirements, was provided by an approved EPP or an accredited institution of higher education within the past five years, and is directly related to the certificate being sought
