Region 12 School Districts Receive $85,500 in Grant Funding for Technology Projects

WACO, TX – The Education Service Center Region 12 Technology Foundation surprised nine Region 12 educators with $85,500 in grant funds during the week of March 18. These grant funds will support education technology projects that are expected to impact 5,354 students at eight school districts in the region.

“We know that district budgets are tight, and sometimes they don’t have the ability to fund additional innovative projects,” said Alexis Neumann, Ed.D, Technology Foundation chair. “The foundation is an avenue for ESC Region 12 to serve the educational needs of the region, help districts do more for students and ultimately put money back into the classroom.”

Belton ISD’s Lakewood Elementary received $12,940 to purchase Lightspeed Redcat devices that will allow teachers to communicate and facilitate group work in collaboration spaces.

Blooming Grove ISD’s Elementary received $6,035 to purchase iPads and the Lou’s Adventure app to improve student reading skills through immersive and interactive learning.

Chilton ISD’s High School received $15,000 to purchase Clevertouch Interactive Boards to energize instructional practices and increase student engagement.

Copperas Cove ISD received $14,778 to purchase Merge Cubes to integrate augmented reality in elementary school libraries and increase interest in STEM.

Goldthwaite ISD’s Elementary received $4,294 to purchase an Aibo robotic dog and other robotics equipment to introduce students to AI and coding in the campus’s STEAM lab.

Midway ISD’s Woodway Elementary received $15,000 to purchase ClassVR sets to enhance vocabulary acquisition, experiential learning and student engagement across the campus.

Troy ISD’s Raymond Mays Middle School received $2,849 to purchase Merge Cubes to enhance student learning with virtual reality in the campus’s STEAM elective.

Wortham ISD’s High School received $12,494 to purchase computer numerical control woodworking equipment to start a student woodworking business.

Wortham ISD’s High School also received $2,108 to purchase computerized chess boards to enhance critical thinking and social-emotional skills. 

Including these grant awards, the ESC Region 12 Technology Foundation has awarded $694,718 to Region 12 schools and served 32,703 students in Central Texas.
