WACO, Texas -  Dr. John C. Bullion, ESC Region 12 Special Education Liaison, along with his colleague Pam Humphrey received the 2021 Barbara Jordan Media Award for their SPEDTalk Podcast from The Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities (GCPD). The Barbara Jordan Media Awards program was established in 1982 to recognize the respectful, accurate portrayal of people with disabilities by media professionals and students. Working in partnership with Baylor University's Journalism, Public Relations and New Media program in the College of Arts and Sciences, GCPD created a virtual awards program highlighting and honoring this year's winners and their outstanding work. Dr. Bullion has been with Education Service Center Region 12 for 4 years. Prior to his role here, he served as the Director of a Special Education Shared Services Arrangement serving seven school districts in Central Texas. In his role as ESC Region 12 Special Education Liaison to TEA, Dr. Bullion has spent the past four years developing innovative regional and statewide supports for the efficient dissemination of SPED Resources, such as ARD Buddy Elite, SPED Director Dashboard, SPED Leadership Academy, SPED Funding Master Class, and SPEDTalk Newsletter, and the SPEDTalk with Pam & John Podcast.
