To improve school readiness of children at-risk for school failure, we must intervene early and consistently in the children’s primary settings – the home and school. There are caregiver strategies and interaction styles shown to be effective with improving developmental outcomes of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. We will discuss how parents can support their children’s language, cognitive, and social-emotional skills through everyday routines and activities. Similarly, specific child care teacher practices can be improved through responsive care giving and intentional activities to support children’s development and well being.
