You will find fiction, nonfiction, and poetry titles, from classic to contemporary, that are intended to support you in cultivating a culture of literacy for your students. Check out a book set today for use in:

  • Book Clubs
  • Literature Circles
  • Mentor Text Study
  • Whole-class Novel Study
  • Guided Reading
  • And more!
The views and values expressed in any given text, or author's lifestyle, are not being condoned or promoted, and do not necessarily reflect the views of the ESC Region 12 or the ELAR team. All texts used with students should be evaluated by the instructors in order to ensure the most appropriate texts are selected according to relevance, maturity level, and their ability to support instruction for mastery of the grade-appropriate TEKS.

Haven't received the email? Click on the "Become a Patron" tab and fill out the form to receive your login information!

How do I see what books are available?

Click on the "Become a Patron" tab, and the "Register for the Library" button will take you to a Google Form. Submit the Google Form, and an ESC ELAR Specialist will create for you a patron's account in Follett Destiny. You will be emailed your username and password, allowing you to log in to the Follett Destiny system and view the books available through the Love for Literacy Library.

How do I check out books?

The Love for Literacy Library is housed at the Service Center, and the ESC ELAR team will serve as your "librarians." Fill out the Google Form, which will notify the ELAR team of what title you'd like to check out, and when you or a colleague will be at the Service Center. You will receive an email from an ELAR specialist following up with details on how to pick up your books once you arrive at the Service Center.

Can I still check out books if I won't be at the Service Center to pick them up?

You may have a colleague pick up your book set, with the understanding that the books are being checked out to you, and are therefore your responsibility. If no one from your campus or district is going to be at the Service Center, still complete the Google Form, and an ESC specialist will contact you to explore other options. The ELAR team will work with you to try and find a solution, but there is no formal transportation service set up for the library at this time, so no guarantees may be made.

Where can I find teacher resources for the book set I checked out?

The Love for Literacy Library does not at this time offer teacher resources. If you are a TEKS Resource district, or a TexQuest district, those resources provide direction on alignment to the TEKS, and teaching resources/materials.

How do I know if I’m a TexQuest district?

Check with your librarian or media specialist, and they will know if your district pays for the TexQuest services. You may also email Larissa Mezynski to inquire.

How do I know if I'm a TEKS Resource district?

Your campus instructional leaders should be able to indicate whether or not your district pays for the TEKS Resource service. You may also email Kristin Arterbury to inquire.

What should I do if my question isn't addressed here?

Please email Larissa Mezynski or Brittany Thomas, and they will be sure to answer any questions you may have!
