Master Reading Teacher Certification
Effective September 1, 2019, as mandated by House Bill 3 (HB 3), the State Board for Educator Certification may no longer issue new or renew master teacher certificates. Master teacher certificates already issued will be updated to include the word “legacy” as part of the certificate title.
Any candidate in a "master teacher" program must complete all certification-related activities before 9/1/2019 (this includes passing the test and submitting a complete application for certification with the educator preparation program recommendation). Master teacher certificates already issued will not be eligible to renew at the end of the expiration date. An individual who previously taught using the master teacher certificate would need to hold another certificate appropriate for placement in the assignment to continue in his or her current role.
This means the Master Reading Teacher program at ESC Region 12 has come to an end. We are extremely grateful to our partner districts and individual educators who have been a part of this program through the years as we work to develop literacy leaders in our schools.

While we are no longer offering our Master Reading Teacher Certification, we have a number of exciting professional development opportunities and training sessions focused on English Language Arts & Reading!
