Master Reading Teacher Certification
The Master Reading Teacher certification program is a certification program that focuses on developing the knowledge and skills of teachers of reading from grades K-12. Participants will focus on a deep understanding of the principles of reading instruction, best practices to support all students and methods for serving as a literacy leader at the campus.
The Master Reading Teacher certification program is a yearlong exploration on how to understand the process of learning to read, implement best practices for reading instruction, including support for students with specific reading needs, and how to help colleagues in doing the same.
To be eligible to apply for the program, you will need: 3+ years of teaching, a minimum of Bachelor's Degree with a 2.5 GPA or higher, letters of recommendation and a complete application. A committee will then review your application.
To complete the program, candidates will need to attend face to face classes, complete outside readings and online components as well as fulfill a yearlong practicum process designed to help the MRT candidate integrate what they've learned into their work with the support of a mentor and field supervisor.
Applications will reopen in January 2018.
