350 Childcare Providers to Learn New Practices, Celebrate 2019 Week of the Young Child this Saturday at the Early Childhood Conference

WACO, Texas - Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12, Texas A & M AgriLife Extension, Prairie View A&M Family and Consumer Sciences, Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas Childcare Services, and the Junior League of Waco's Educate and Collaborate Program will celebrate the 2019 Week of the Young Child™ by hosting a professional development conference this Saturday. 

The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, and families. The conference aims to celebrate early childhood programs and provide professional learning opportunities to improve school readiness for children ages birth to five.

Around 350 early childhood educators from child care centers, home providers, area head start programs, and local schools will enjoy a full day of learning, networking and appreciation. The conference includes breakout sessions covering a range of topics including social and emotional wellness, oral language development, literacy, science, and educator self care.

Interactive sessions with hands-on application
One session will include science kits using found objects and simple tools to be used by parents and teachers to support early science learning
Another will include experiences that can be used to introduce children to common living critters
Creating and using flannel stories to support student learning and engagement
