WACO, Texas - Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12, Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas Child Care Services, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, and Prairie View A&M Cooperative Extension Program will celebrate the 2018 Week of the Young Child™ by hosting a professional development conference April 21, 2018.
The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, and families. The conference aims to improve school readiness for all children and childhood programs.
Nearly 400 early childhood educators from child care centers, home providers, area head start programs, and local schools will enjoy a full day of learning, networking and appreciation. The conference includes 24 breakout sessions, covering topics ranging from science to literacy to music to safety and to nutrition. See full program.
Visuals
- Many sessions will have hands-on applications.
- A music and movement session will cover how to use music to promote social and emotional skills in young children.
- Participants will learn about creating with recycled and found materials.
