An Evening of Art Invitation

WACO, Texas- Where can one find and learn about nearly 200 original works of art from 185 elementary, middle and high school students? Art ranging from pastels to chalk to illustrations to watercolor and photography is now on display at Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12.

The center will honor these young artists and showcase their talents during “An Evening of Art” from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at ESC Region 12, 2101 W. Loop 340, Waco. Participants will be welcomed by the Robinson High School Flute Ensemble.

In addition to recognizing students and their teachers, the showcase will include a new, interactive component that will share more than just the artist’s name and school district for art pieces. During the gallery walk, participants will be invited to see and hear students’ thoughts about their work by using an augmented reality app with their smart phone or device.

Incorporating this type of technology is an example of the center’s commitment to their TransformED initiative to model modern learning tools and teaching methods to area educators and school personnel.

“The Art Gala is an opportunity for educators, families and the community to celebrate talented young artists from across the region,” said Education Specialist Larissa Mezynski, who is also serving as event coordinator. “Displaying student art is a powerful way to foster students’ enthusiasm in learning to use their skills to represent themselves and their school well, while connecting with and investing in their community.”
