  • Online Resources to help reduce children's anxiety in response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

    Tips:

    1. Children are likely already aware of the developing situation. Start the conversation by asking them what they've heard about it.
    2. Ask children about the conversations they are having with their peers regarding the pandemic.
    3. Use factual information and age-appropriate language.
    4. Tell children the truth to avoid creating additional anxiety over speculations and guesses.
    5. Limit young children's exposure to news media outlets.

  • State law requires every Texas school district to adopt an attendance accounting system that includes procedures to ensure the accurate recording and reporting of student attendance data. The Student Attendance Accounting Handbook (SAAH) contains the official attendance accounting requirements that all public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools in Texas must meet.
