Admission Requirements

Admission is based on the following:

  • Last 60 Hours GPA or cumulative GPA
  • Content GPA
  • THEA Scores
  • Interview
  • Writing Sample
Teacher & kids

To become a TPCP intern, all applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree or higher from an approved accredited institution of higher education with either a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above on a four-point system or a 2.5 or above grade point average in the last 60 hours of college coursework taken
  • Have the required block of semester hours (see Certification Areas) for the desired certification with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a four-point system in that required block.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in THEA reading, writing, and mathematics by a minimum of the following scores: (Out of state applicants only may submit PPST scores in lieu of the THEA) Test requirements are mandatory for all applicants.
    • Reading - 250
    • Mathematics- 230
    • Writing- 220
    • GRE scores are also accepted with a minimum score of 350 Verbal and 350 Quantitive
  • All applicants must successfully pass a scored interview and writing sample
  • Submit to a criminal history check
  • Gain approval by the TPCP Advisory Board
  • Note: Participants who have not completed the necessary coursework may submit an application; however, they will not be eligible to be in the program until all entry requirements are satisfactorily completed prior to the beginning of TPCP training.

    Being accepted into the TPCP does not guarantee employment by a school district
