Will the program require
much of a time commitment?
Accredited and recognized throughout Texas,

addition to pre-service training and local district training
requirements, interns will be required to complete training
sessions during the school year. Observations of specified
school personnel are required, and paperwork is to be submitted
on a monthly basis. The program is designed only for highly
committed and organized candidates who wish to join the teaching
profession and make a difference in the lives of children.

from the program.
Does ESC Region 12
place interns in teaching jobs with school districts?
No. After being accepted, each applicant is

districts with lists of candidates and by inviting applicants
to attend the Region 12 Job Fair in late April.
Am I paid a salary
during my internship year?
There are two types of internship: paid internship and student teaching.
- Paid Internship is when you are the teacher of record and you are paid a salary based on the employing school districts salary scale.
- Student teaching is when the intern will complete a 12 week-full time teaching practicum, in which the student teacher will assume the role of a teacher, practicing with an experienced certified teacher of record. The student teaching experience is upaid.
