UPDATE 10/16/2009
EC-4 Interns received communication from us stating that certification for Generalist EC-4 must be completed by October 2010.  We are happy to report this date was incorrectly given to us by SBEC; instead the correct date is October 2011. In light of this, please disregard the October 8 memo and be advised of the following:

This requires you to:

• Successfully complete a paid internship no later than the school year 2010-2011, or
• Successfully complete a 12-week clinical internship no later than spring semester 2011, or
• Re-train and re-test for Generalist EC-6 certification.

To summarize, if you do not complete your Generalist EC-4 internship (paid or clinical) SUCCESSFULLY by October 2011, you will have to re-train and re-test for Generalist EC-6 certification.

September 15th is the first official meeting for our New Teacher Academy. If you have accepted a teaching job you must attend all New Teacher Academy meetings. Please invite your mentor to attend the meeting with you on September 15, 2009.

New Teacher Academy
For Nolanville and Waco interns:
If you begin teaching in the Fall 2009, the following dates are required meeting dates. They will all be held at Education Service Center Region 12 in Waco from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The dates are:

• September 15, 2009 ~ Bring your mentor with you
  
• September 22, 2009
• October 19, 2009
• November 17, 2009
• January 19, 2010
• February 16, 2010
• March 23, 2010
• April 20, 2010
• May 18, 2010

The following ESC Region 12 sessions are free for TPCP interns:

• September 23, 2009 - Session #32101 - Mark Boynton
• October 20, 2009 - Session #31434 - Dr. Bernhardt

Please call Sandy Talley at (254) 297-1210 to register for these sessions. Please advise Sandy that you are a TPCP intern and will be attending free of charge.

There will be several ESL TExES Preparation workshops in the upcoming months in Waco and Nolanville. These will prepare you to take the TExES ESL Supplemental Certificate Exam (#154) while introducing teaching strategies that will help improve ESL student achievement. The cost of each session is $275.00. The workshops will be held as shown below:

• 10/6-10/7, 2009, Nolanville, Session #31305
• 1/12-1/13, 2010, Waco, Session #31306
• 3/31-4/1/2010, Nolanville, Session #31307
• 6/8-6/9/2010, Waco, Session # 31308

Clarification on TPCP Tuition payments:
Payments are due the last working day of the month. Please do not send cash.

Reminder:
If you are in your internship phase, remember to submit your I Have A Job form and your Statement of Employment. Also remember to turn in your Schedule of Classes and Orientation Checklist within 10 days of your first day of employment.

Student Teaching is an option for any intern who has completed pre-service training and has not secured a teaching position by October 1 of their internship year. Please contact Betsy King at bking@esc12.net or 254-297-1140 for more information.
