Preschool LRE - The Preschool LRE Initiative
was designed to assist districts in assessing the
quality of educational programs for preschool children
with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
THe goals for this effort are to increase the number
of preschool students served in least restrictive
settings, to assist districts in assessing and expanding
their current continuum of placements for preschool
students with disabilities, and improve the quality
of services and partnerships with other service providers.
Access to the General Curriculum - This program
is responsible for organizing and conducting professional
development and technical support that facilitates
students with disabilities gaining access to curriculum
and instruction based on the Texas Essential Knowledge
and Skills (TEKS) in the least restrictive environment.
Indicator 7 - In accordance with the State
Performance Plan Indicator #7 (Early Childhood Outcomes),
training will assist school district staff in completing
the Child Outcome Summary Form (COSF) used to calculate
the percent of preschool children with IEPs who demonstrate
improved positive social / emotional skills (including
social relationships), acquisition and use of knowledge
and skills (including early language / communication
and early literacy), and use of appropriate behaviors
to meet their needs.
Positive Behavior Supports for the Preschool
Child - This training provides research-based
strategies to assist schools to increase academic
performance, increase safety, decrease problem
behavior, and establish positive school cultures.
TEEM - This is a two-day face-to-face training
for districts that are interested in the Texas Early
Education Model (TEEM). These two days give teachers
an overview of the model.
