Multimedia
Overview |
| |
- What
is Multimedia?
- Why
Multimedia for the Classroom?
- In
what ways do teachers use MM today?
- How
do you think MM is most effective?
- At
what point is MM most effective?
- Who
should be involved in production?
- How
are curricular objectives impacted by its use?
- What
do you foresee as the future of MM in the classroom?
- What
does the Research Say?
- “The
Impact of Media and Technology in Schools” A Research
Report prepared for The Bertelsmann Foundation, by Thomas
P. Reeves, University of Georgia, 1998.
- “Research
on Multimedia in Education”
This report published by ISTE Research and Evaluation
highlights the research supporting the effectiveness
of information technology-assisted project-based learning
(IT-assisted PBL). According to this research, when
IT-assisted PBL is used in a constructivist, cooperative
learning environment, students learn more and retain
their knowledge better.
- Rationale
for Multimedia Use and Instruction in Education
- Article by Dr. Robert S. Houghton, College of Education
and Allied Professions, Western Carolina University
- What
are some Examples of Effective
Use?
- Living

- Learning
to Tie Your Shoes (Elementary)

Multimedia
Creation |
| |
- Planning
the Project
- Is
this a teacher creation to be used as an introduction
or “hook” for a lesson or unit?
- Am
I building a MM component that will be used as a teaching
“tool?”
- Am
I producing a “model” that students will be expected
to replicate as part of their learning process?
- Should
I give students a “choice” of multimedia tools?
- Choosing
the Tool
- Building
a Storyboard
- Gathering
Materials
- Building
the Model
- Presenting
the Results for Peer Review
