    The Ascender Business Software is a web-based fully featured financial accounting package designed exclusively for Texas Schools with accompanying support by ESC Business staff.

  • ESC Region 12 provides bank account reconciliation services designed to assure the district’s data is timely, accurate and internal controls are strengthened. 
    • Services are available on a short-term or long-term basis.
    • Services can be provided for all or selected accounts. 
    • Reconciliations are done within the Ascender software module.

     

  • ESC Region 12 can provide full service bookkeeping. These services are available on an annual or as needed basis. These services include but are not limited to:
    • Payroll preparation
    • Accounts payable processing
    • Monthly bank reconciliations
    • Quarterly and annual reporting for TRS/IRS
    These services are also available as a “911 call” which provides districts with short term emergency help due to illness or an unexpected leave of personnel. This service can be considered part of a District’s disaster plan. 
  • ESC Region 12 provides full service bookkeeping on an annual or as needed basis. These services are also available as short-term emergency assistance and can be considered part of a district’s disaster plan.  These services are available regardless of software utilized.

    Additional Services include, but are not limited to:

    • Financial oversight for districts that have had financial difficulties
    • 911 services for unexpected staff illness or departure
    • Support for districts that may have staff without the appropriate/adequate background
    • One-on-one, hands-on training for new or interim personnel
    • Assistance with state funding questions
    • Bond accounting issues
    • Tax rate adoption and reporting
    • Assistance with budget preparation and analysis
    • Assistance with grant coding and analysis

  • Our experienced staff of CPA’s and accountants will review your district’s financial data in order to assure the books and records are complete and accurate prior to the outside auditor’s annual scheduled visit.
    • Review the balance sheet portion of the general ledger
    • Review/reconcile state revenue
    • Review/reconcile federal grant revenue and reporting
    • Record year end accrual entries
    • District audit report is reviewed prior to and in preparation of board approval

School Finance

  • Template and Cash Flow provides school districts with assistance with two critical areas of financial management. Superintendents, Business Managers, Finance Directors and program directors will receive assistance periodic reports in the area of state and local revenue projection and in analysis of cash flow and calculation of cash position.

    1. Calculation of state funding each attendance cycle, based on changing student attendance and demographic data
    2. Monthly cash flow analysis, estimation of cash position and comparison of revenues to expenditures
  • The Financial Benchmarking Service assists school districts with three critical areas of financial management.  Superintendents, Business Managers, Finance Directors and program directors will receive periodic reports from Region 12 School Finance Department that assist them with revenue projection, cash flow management and help them stay in compliance with state and federal programs.

    1. Calculation of state funding each attendance cycle, based on changing student attendance and demographic data
    2. Cash flow analysis, estimation of cash position and comparison of revenues to expenditures performed monthly
    3. Calculation of compliance with state and federal programs, performed semi-annually, for IDEA MOE, ESEA MOE and state allotments
  • This service provides Superintendents, Business Managers, Finance Directors and Transportation Directors with expert assistance, professional development opportunities and trainings in:
