WACO, Texas - Friends of Texas Public Schools
(FOTPS) honored three groups at its 12th annual award gala on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Baylor Club in McLane Stadium. Texas' 20 Education Service Centers were among these and received the Founder's Distinguished Service Award. This award was created to honor organizations who play a vital role in the success of Texas Public Schools. FOTPS selected the Education Service Centers for this award due to their 50 years of providing essential services which have enabled school districts to effectively educate students.
"As a past superintendent in a rural setting, I can testify to the importance of service centers to the operational success of our school districts in Texas," said Blake Cooper, Executive Director, FOTPS. "With the wide variety of services provided by ESC's, school districts can operate in a very efficient manner while providing the best learning opportunities for our students."
Dr. Jerry Maze, Executive Director of Education Service Center Region 12, expressed his gratitude for this honor and the opportunity to serve Texas students.
"On behalf of my colleagues in the Education Service Centers of Texas, we are proud to be recognized with this honor from Friends of Texas Public Schools, another group of great champions for children," Maze said.
