ESC Region 12 provides the opportunity for districts and cooperatives to join a regional cooperative for Orientation and Mobility (O & M) services.

Specialists involved in the Orientation and Mobility Service at ESC Region 12 assist districts in a number of ways. They:

• Plan and provide services to students with visual impairments in Region 12.
• Travel to the student's assigned schools and / or homes to provide special education services relating to the vision loss.
• Develop an Orientation and Mobility (O & M) program for each individual student per the goal and objectives written in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Attend Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, keep in constant communication with teacher, parents, and others involved with the student's education.
• Plan, develop and present presentations on O & M.
• Attend workshops for up to date innovations in the career field.
• Contribute to the development of the annual Campteen Challenge.
• Provide O & M training and consultation to teachers, parents, peers, and others working with a child with a visual impairment.
