Instructional Leadership Development

Leaders will learn to model, encourage, and create conditions in the school culture that are:
  • Learner Centered
    Views all members of the learning community as life-long, successful learners.
  • Based on High Expectations
    Expects all staff to work to ensure a safe, respectful, inclusive, risk-taking and academically rich environment in which all stakeholders accept accountability for the success of all students.
  • Collaborative
    Views teamwork, collegiality and sense of community as necessary for maximizing the goal of success for all.
  • Based on Continuous Improvement
    Views continuous planning, monitoring, evaluation and assessment of progress as essential to the goal of continuous and ever-improving success for all.

Programs and Services

  • Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) is a 36 hour course that prepares new administrators for instructional leadership and teacher appraisal. ILD is a prerequisite for PDAS Appraiser Certification.
  • ILD for Teachers is a 6 or 12 hour course which helps teachers to:

    • Evaluate the effectiveness of their own teaching practices
    • Analyze data in order to promote systemic improvement
    • Integrate the continuous improvement process into curriculum, instruction, and assessment
