ESC Region 12 will provide training, monthly meetings and workshops, technical assistance, information updates, and networking through the Counselors’ Council.

Services include:

• Professional growth opportunities in ethical and legal implications in the field of counseling
• Information and assistance in developing a developmental guidance program that satisfies the requirements of the recently passed SB 158 using the TEA “Guide for Program Development PreK–12 Grade.
• Training and technical assistance for GEAR UP materials to be used with parents, students, and teachers as outlined in HB 713
• Assist counselors with information on the Personal Graduation Plan
• Offer continuing education credits for all participants
• Offer LPC credit hours for Licensed Professional Counselors for the purpose of license renewal
• Assist counselors in the identification of materials and programs that assist counselors in the performance of their duties, interpretation of graduation plans, maintaining academic achievement records, and the development of counseling skills
• Collaborate with education specialists in Special Education, Safe and Drug Free Schools, ESL, CATE, Title I, Service Learning, Parent Involvement, Accountability, and Core Curriculum in offering workshops for counselors
• Present workshops on topics for school counselors such as curriculum updates, graduation plans, current requirements, ethics, suicide, cognitive behavioral therapy, character education, anger management, PEIMS updates, coherent sequence of courses, law updates, and other current topics
• Present "best practices" counseling programs for counselors
