ESC Region 12 provides assistance in accordance with guidelines from the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted and Talented Students.

Services for member districts include:

• 30-hours of initial training and/or certification exam preparation
• New research in the nature and needs of the gifted learner
• Updated assessments of student needs for G/T Programs
• Principles of differentiation and assistance with curriculum compacting
• Annual 6-Hour Update to include critical and creative thinking skills, pre-AP and AP strategies for the content areas, and Performance Standards Project training
• Program options and research on best practices for gifted and advanced programming
• State adopted guidelines for identifying the gifted learner
• Program evaluation, including the Performance Standards Project
• Technical assistance in planning and implementing programs for G/T students
• Pre-AP sessions for math, science, social studies and language arts
• Network meetings
