Districts may partner with ESC Region 12 to receive Business Office support functions and / or accounting services based on district needs. These services are provided under the supervision of a Certified Public Accountant with school business experience. All services are performed in accordance with the requirements of TEA’s Financial Accounting Resource Guide.

Bookkeeping Services:

Services are provided through an Interlocal Agreement that specifies the scope of the service being rendered. Services are in compliance with federal Sarbanes-Oxley Act and may include:

• Preparation and assistance with monthly bank reconciliation
• Data entry of monthly transactions
• Preparation of vendor checks
• Monthly financial reports: board reports, financial statement, district cash flow
• Preparation of district payroll, employee checks, insurance and other benefit checks, 1099’s, W-2’s
• Filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports to outside entities (IRS, TWC, TRS)
• Assistance with budget preparation
• Accounting research and recovery/ Audit preparation support
• Federal program bookkeeping

Business Office Support Services:

Services are provided by contract that specifies the scope of the service desired. Services may include:

• Monthly cash-flow report projections
• School finance “template runs” every six weeks
• Transportation reporting
• Special Education program budget preparation, including amendments
• Business procedures manual co-operative
• FIRST report preparation
• “911” business services team for fiscal emergencies
• Audit preparedness service
