ESC Region 12 is pleased to recognize extraordinary educators
from Central Texas. The 2004 Region 12 Elementary Teacher
of the Year (TOTY) is Glory Rivera of Waco ISD.
2005 Region 12 Elementary Teacher
of the Year:
Glory Rivera,
Waco ISD
Glory Rivera has been a teacher for more
than 20 years and credits her long career to prayers,
patience and a love of teaching. She began her career
in the Philippines, where she was raised, before moving
to the United States with her husband and children.
Once in the United States, she worked to receive her
certification through the Region 12 Teacher Preparation
and Certification Program, and has worked for Waco ISD
since 1999.
Rivera feels that it is important to be
an example for students by maintaining a positive attitude
and upholding ethics and a sense of professionalism.
She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Philippine
Normal University in the Philippines and received her
master’s degree from Isabela State University
in the Philippines.
Rivera is a Second Grade teacher at Doris
Miller Elementary School in Waco.
