Region 12 Districts & Charter
Schools Eligible to Apply for Virtual Learning Scholarships
WACO, Texas – The Texas Virtual School
Network (TxVSN) Virtual Learning Scholarship application
is available to all Region 12 districts for the Fall
2012 semester. The deadline for
applying for fall scholarships is September 14, 2012 at 11:59 PM or until
all scholarship seats are allotted. Applications
submitted after the deadline will be considered only
if scholarships remain. Virtual Learning Scholarships will also be available for the Spring 2013 semester. Watch for that application announcement on the TxVSN website at www.txvsn.org.
The TxVSN Virtual Learning Scholarship program is
designed to provide an opportunity for school districts
to offer online courses that meet graduation requirements
if other funding is unavailable.
“This scholarship program provides a wonderful
opportunity for students to take courses that were
not previously available to them due to challenges
such as scheduling conflicts or district capacity,” Lisa
McCray, director of virtual learning at ESC Region
12, said.
Districts or open-enrollment charter schools with
an average daily attendance (ADA) of 49,999 or less
may request a maximum of 35 seats. Districts or open-enrollment
charter schools with an ADA of 50,000 or more may request
a maximum of 50 seats.
School districts that apply for scholarships will
receive an additional $100 for each semester course successfully completed by the student. These funds
may be used to assist with the mentoring and monitoring
of all students enrolled in TxVSN courses, or to assist
in the purchase of additional TxVSN semester course
seats for additional students.
