ESC Region 12 Offers Texas Professional Development Training
Training begins in May, Teachers to Earn Stipends
The Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12 is proud to once again offer a special series of professional development trainings for educators across multiple grade levels and content areas. The Texas Professional Development program is specialized training designed by the state in response to the legislative mandate, House Bill 3. The training focuses on helping teachers better understand the rigor of their content area standards and better prepare students for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR).
The trainings will be delivered face-to face with online follow-up sessions. All educators are invited to attend these training sessions free of charge, but only eligible participants will receive stipends.
To be eligible for stipends, participants:
- Must be certified, full-time teachers of record for grade and content specific areas
- Must successfully complete the face-to-face component (Participants may receive an additional stipend for online follow-up.)
- Must attend between May and December 2011
Some participants may attend multiple sessions; however, they must meet the eligibility requirements to receive a stipend.
Training sessions offered include: Algebra, English, Biology, Geometry, Physics, Chemistry, U.S. & World History, Geography, Science, Math, ELA and Social Studies.
All instructional leaders, curriculum instructors, and administrators are encouraged to attend, but they are not eligible to receive a stipend.
