Area Math & Science Teachers to be Honored Nov. 14 for work in Math, Science Collaborative Programs

WACO, TEXAS – Twenty-six science educators and thirty-nine math educators will be recognized for completing training and mentoring fellow teachers through the Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence in Science & Mathematics Teaching (TRC). The annual Honoring the Teachers ceremony, sponsored by Education Service Center Region 12, will take place 6 – 7:30 p.m., Monday at 2101 W. Loop 340, in Waco.

“We would like to congratulate and acknowledge this exceptional group of teachers for their time and dedication to the program,” said Prisscilla Fricke, science collaborative project director for ESC Region 12.

The recognized science teachers have mentored a minimum of three teachers and obtained 105 hours of training, and the math teachers obtained 85 hours—all in one year’s time. During this program, the teachers learned the latest methods and techniques to engage students in science and math learning experiences. These mentors return to their schools to assist other teachers in incorporating the methods and techniques into their curriculum.

All honorees will be presented with a certificate of achievement and award plaque. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Jerry Maze, executive director for ESC Region 12.
