RURAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT CHECK PRESENTATION

ESC REGION 12 & 14 DISTRICTS AWARDED USDA GRANT

| WHAT: |
The USDA Rural Development presented the Rural Utility Services (RUS) Grant to Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12, one of six recipients in Texas. The $491,250 grant will provide distance learning to 21 campuses in 14 Central Texas school districts.
Recipient Districts: Chilton, Groesbeck, Hillsboro, Hubbard, Kerens, Malone, Mart, McGregor, Mexia, Mt. Calm, Rice, Star, Walnut Springs and Whitney ISD. |

| DETAILS: |
Higher education opportunities, professional development and virtual field trips will now become a reality for students who, up till now, may have attended school in electronic isolation. Specifically, educational areas that will be addressed are:
• Live instruction through the sharing of teachers via videoconference
• Videoconference field trips in all subject areas
• Srteaming content of archived videoconference sessions
• Video streaming content for curriculum enhancement
• Digitally captured ESC Region 12 meetings, training sessions, conferences, and workshops for streaming or downloading
• Increase in the availability of courses that cannot currently be offered at small rural districts |
