Response to Intervention Conference for All Educators to Focus on
Using Professional Learning Communities to Improve Student Achievement

If you can only afford one major training opportunity for your staff this year, this is it!

Teachers and school leaders face growing pressure to improve teaching effectiveness, decrease student achievement gaps and keep expenses at a minimum. In an effort to assist schools in meeting these needs, Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12 will provide a Response to Instruction & Intervention Conference on Oct. 11-12. The conference is one in a series of stay-at-home seminars ESC Region 12 is offering to provide quality and affordable training to area educators.

“Making the Right Moves at the Secondary Level” is the focus of this conference, featuring Mike Mattos, an internationally known author and successful practitioner. Mattos is recognized throughout the nation for his work in the areas of response to intervention and institutional learning through the use of professional learning communities (PLCs). He has successfully used the Professional Learning Communities at Work™ model to improve learning for students and transform schools.

Mattos and a full slate of respected trainers and practitioners, including staff from Wichita Falls ISD, and the highly respected author of TALA, Dr. Deborah Reed, will show participants practical steps for using a systems approach that helps struggling students experience success andsuccessful students move to commended.

Day 2 - October 12, 2011 Learn strategic moves to help your team gain practical information to take back to your district for implementation and future planning. Choose sessions from the following:

  • High yield instructional strategies for ANY content – Dr. Deborah Reed, UTEP
  • School-wide tiered systems at the secondary level – Secondary
  • Overview of Early Warning Data System (EWDS)
