ESC Region 12 Named Business of the Year by DARS

WACO, Texas – Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12 has been named Business of the Year by DARS Divisions for Blind & Rehabilitation Services in Waco. The annual award is given to businesses for going above and beyond in partnering with DARS and for work with individuals with disabilities. The honor was presented during the Walk n’ Roll Celebration in observance of White Cane Day.

“We are so honored to receive this award. As a service center we are here to provide impactful and innovative services, training and support to schools, educators and students across 12 area counties. Much of that work would not be possible without strong partnerships with businesses, such as DARS Divisions for Blind and Rehabilitation Services, Dr. Jerry Maze, ESC Region 12 Executive Director said.

The center and DARS have partnered for nearly two decades to offer unique events for students with disabilities, including an annual Technology Olympics event and summer Camp Teen Challenge. These events provide opportunities for students to showcase and broaden their skills using assistive technology as well as network with other students across the region.
