April 29 C.O.W. Day to Inspire 1,500 Elementary Students
What do you want to be when you grow up? Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12 will ask this question and showcase career options during Careers on Wheels (C.O.W.) Day from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday at ESC Region 12, 2101 W. Loop 340 in Waco.
C.O.W. Day is an informational, interactive and fun event where students learn about many careers and specialized vehicles.
“Modeling and demonstrating careers provides excellent and memorable examples for young boys and girls, and we want to encourage that they can be anything they want to be,” Christine Holecek, education specialist, said.
Vehicle operators will give demonstrations and explain what training and/or education they received. Vehicles will include a fire truck, radio van, tractor and plow, police cruiser, crime lab and many more. Students will have the opportunity to test functions on many of the vehicles.
Exhibits from the following businesses will fill the center’s back parking lot:
The Red Cross, Bird-Kultgen Ford, HEB, Lacy-Lakeview Fire Department, City of Waco Solid Waste Services East Texas Medical Center Texas Department of Transportation, Big 95 KBGO, McLennan County Farm Bureau, City of Waco Police Department, U.S. Post Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, City of Waco Fire Department, Texas State Technical College, Chick-fil-A and Little Caesars Pizza
