ESC Region 12 Adds New Resource to Provide Technology Training For All Staff
WACO, Texas – The Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12 has joined forces with Atomic Learning, Inc. a nationally respected provider of Web-based software training. This partnership will provide access to the Atomic Learning 21st Century Professional Development Online Training Collection for the center staff which includes 110+ of the most commonly used software applications and other technology resources and is available 24 hours a day seven days a week.
“ESC Region 12 is very excited to have this wonderful resource for a second year,” stated Lisa McCray, Director of Virtual Learning & Instructional Technology Initiatives at ESC Region 12. “We pride ourselves in providing up-to-date technology equipment and software programs for our staff. Atomic Learning will help us become more proficient in the use of those tools. Support staff and professionals alike with be able to increase their competence with the standard programs loaded on their computers. Professionals will be better equipped to serve as role models for districts in the integration of technology into the classroom and other areas of the workplace using the ‘Projects’ and ‘Workshops’ features of Atomic Learning.”
Atomic Learning helps faculty, staff, students and students’ families quickly and easily learn about technology whenever and wherever they like. It’s perfect for classroom training, faculty and staff development and for individuals learning at their own pace. The Atomic Learning library includes short, step-by-step instructions on applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe products, Texas Instruments calculators and new technology such as blogging, to name just a few examples.
“Technology is so important in education today,” says Dan Meyer, a former classroom teacher and one of the founders of Atomic Learning. “Students need knowledge of current technologies in order to be competitive in their future careers. Atomic Learning’s training is an effective and affordable avenue to help educators build 21st century schools,” Meyer says.
