13th Annual Statewide Evaluation Conference (SWEP) for Special Educators Scheduled for Feb. 10-13, 2010
Evaluation: A Long and Winding Road is the theme for the 13th annual Statewide Evaluation Conference for special education evaluation personnel. This year’s event will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10 thru Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at the Westin Galleria Hotel in Houston, Texas.
SWEP is organized and hosted by the Statewide Leadership for Evaluation which is a decentralized function of TEA. ESC Region 12 is the lead for the Statewide Leadership for Evaluation. This group is represented by an evaluation specialist from each Education Service Center across the state. The purpose of this conference is to bring new information on evaluation to school personnel and provide networking opportunities with people across the state involved in the evaluation of children with disabilities.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Richard Woodcock who will present past, present and future issues on educational/cognitive assessment. The experts will present on hot topics such as RTI, SLD, ethics for LSSPs and SLPs, current research on bilingualism and much more. Dr. Gail Cheramie will close the session with her lecture on associating cognitive processes/narrow abilities with the LD academic areas.
CPE credits will be offered to participants, and TSHA CE credits are pending.
Handouts will be available electronically in early January, and will also be made available on a CD at the conference.
