Copperas Cove ISD's Assistant Principal Academy Receives Statewide Recognition |
Texas School Business magazine has announced that Copperas Cove ISD's Assistant Principal Academy is one of 12 initiatives to be honored in the magazine's third annual "Bragging Rights" special issue. Bragging Rights recognizes school districts that have implemented programs that are bettering the lives of students, schools and communities.
The academy was started with the goal of providing current assistant principals the knowledge and skills necessary to confidently succeed as a new principal. One morning each month over the course of a school year, assistant principals, as well as aspiring administrators, attend workshops on academic, financial and personnel matters. These monthly workshops also include presentations from high-level district officials. They also focus on improving leadership skills for all levels of administrators. "It's very exciting for our district to be recognized by Texas School Business magazine," Dr. Rose Cameron, superintendent of schools for Copperas Cove ISD said. "Our district is continually looking for ways to improve everything that we do. This program has helped our developing administrators have a better understanding of the role of the principal. Children and teachers are the winners when their leaders are better prepared."
