Local Public Meeting Aimed at
Improving Special Education in Texas
WACO, TEXAS--Education Service Center
(ESC) Region 12 will host a public input and information
meeting on behalf of the Texas Education Agency (TEA)
for parents, teachers, administrators, and others
involved in special education, to gather input on
topics related to special education in Texas. The
meeting will be held from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.,
Tuesday, April 15 at ESC Region 12 at 2101 W. Loop
340 in Waco.
The purpose of the meeting is to obtain
feedback on topics aligned with the state performance
plan and gather needs assessment data at the regional
and state levels. During the meeting, attendees will
have the opportunity to provide input on the following
questions:
- What needs to be included
in an ARD Committee’s discussion regarding
instructional placement choice for a student with
disabilities?
- What factors contribute to
disciplinary actions for students with disabilities?
How can parents and schools work together to address
these factors?
- What practices are in place
to ensure that struggling students (non-special
education) are receiving appropriate intervention
strategies?
The meeting is free and open to anyone
interested in improving special education services
for children with disabilities.
