10th ANNUAL STATEWIDE EVALUATION
CONFERENCE (SWEP) FOR
SPECIAL EDUCATORS SCHEDULED
FOR JAN. 31 - Feb. 2, 2007
Waco, Texas--“Evaluation
in an Era of Diversity,” is the theme for the
tenth annual Statewide Evaluation Conference for
Special Education Evaluation Personnel. The conference
will be held Wednesday, Jan. 31 through Friday, Feb.
2, 2007, at the El Tropicano Riverwalk Hotel in San
Antonio, Texas.
The statewide conference is organized
and hosted by the Statewide Leadership for Evaluation
which is a Decentralized Function of TEA. ESC 12
is the lead for the Statewide Leadership for Evaluation.
A variety of speakers will present topics on legal
issues, evaluation methods, bilingual issues, and
disproportionality/over-representation of minority
students. The purpose of this conference is to bring
new information on evaluation to school personnel
and provide networking opportunities with people
across the state involved in the evaluation of children
with disabilities.
Approximately 700 participants
will attend the three-day event, and among those
will be educational diagnosticians, licensed specialists
in school psychology (LSSPs), speech and language
pathologists (SLPs), special education directors,
teachers, and counselors. CPE credits will be offered
for attendees (14 hours TSHA CE credits).
