SERVICE-LEARNING CELEBRATION TO BE HELD MAY 10
WHAT: |
The Education Service Center Region 12 will host a “Service-Learning Celebration,” where students and teachers will showcase service-learning projects completed in Central Texas over the last year. |
WHEN: |
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10
Project booths will be open to the public for viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. |

FACTS: |
Service-Learning is a teaching method that provides opportunities for students to reinforce learning through meaningful service in structured, project-based experiences. Projects to be featured include: creating a community parkland, building a school/ community playground, learning about local communities and advocating for environmental improvement, creating vegetable and flower gardens on school campuses, developing a Peace Garden for students and community to read about and discuss current issues, and local history projects.
The day will begin with a welcome from Wynn Rolf followed by a keynote address from Donna Reed, and student presentations.
Districts scheduled to showcase projects are: Frost, Killeen, Kopperl, Morgan, Waco and Whitney ISD |
