Senator Averitt Speaks at ESC Region
12 Feb. 3
WACO, TEXAS — Education Service Center
(ESC) Region 12 welcomed Senator Kip Averitt
during a staff development meeting at 3 p.m., February
3rd at ESC Region 12 in Waco. During the visit, Senator
Averitt will gave a brief presentation about the
concept of stewardship, one of the 10 core values
of the center. In addition, Executive Director
Tom Norris presented the senator with an award
of appreciation for his continued support of public
education. The core values of ESC Region 12 guide
staff to accomplish the four strategic priorities
set by the Texas Legislature for ESCs. These priorities
include the following:
- To assist
schools in improving student performance;
- To
increase effectiveness and economy of operations
in a safe and orderly environment;
- To
implement statewide and regional initiatives; and
- To
enhance quality communication as the key to positive
climates and productive partnerships.
As a representative
and now as senator, Averitt has consistently been
a strong supporter of public education and ESC
Region 12. Therefore, it was appropriate that he
addressed staff on the topic of applying stewardship
values, as they serve Central Texas schools. Stewardship,
as defined by the center, is the effective and
efficient utilization of resources (people, materials,
and time) and the accomplishment of the ESC Region
12 mission. The center’s mission is to partner
with schools in improving student performance through
educator training, administrator assistance, technical
services, and the implementation of statewide and
regional initiatives.
