Texas Public Schools Week
2004
PICK-A-WEEK in MARCH
This year marks the 150th anniversary
of public education in Texas and the 50th anniversary
of the annual Texas Public Schools Week celebration.
Since 1954 school districts and communities across
Texas have celebrated the success of public education
during Texas Public Schools Week. This year's celebration
promises to be one of the biggest and best as the
Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA)
once again has created a Texas Public Schools Week
kit that will help schools in the state promote
public education and 150 years of success! Use the
kit throughout the year to celebrate not only the
week but the 150th anniversary of public education
in Texas.
Because TEA has scheduled TAKS testing
for the first week in March 2004, TSPRA is asking
school districts to PICK-A-WEEK in March to hold
their annual Texas Public Schools Week (TPSW) celebrations.
The TPSW logo and specialty items, developed by
TSPRA, have been designed with "Texas Public
Schools Week March 2004", so that school districts
may choose their own week in March.
TPSW is traditionally scheduled for
the first full week in March so that the celebration
will coincide with Texas Independence Day, March
2.
