The importance of physical and mental activities
during the developmental stages of young childhood
will be the focus of the first annual Region 12 Early
Childhood Institute, which is scheduled from 9 a.m.
– 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 1 through Thursday,
June 3. The institute will be hosted by the Education
Service Center (ESC) Region 12 at 2102 W. Loop 340

“This first-time institute will provide up-to-date
training and best practice models for successful early
childhood development,” said Melba Bunch, education
specialist at ESC Region 12.
The institute will include break-out sessions and
speakers who specialize in early childhood development.
One of these speakers will be Jean Blaydes Madigan,

learning and enhances their overall performance in
school. Additional topics will include, but not be
limited to Autism, literacy, music and movement, and
socialization skills.
At this time, more than 150 individuals are registered
to attend the training. Participants may attend one,
two, or all three days of the institute, which is
open to Pre-K teachers, Pre-school Program for Children
with Disabilities (PPCD) educators, special education
