Proposed Performance-Based
Monitoring (PBM) Indicators for 2004-05
to be Addressed at June 29 TETN Session
As part of the development of new monitoring strategies
by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), a meeting has
been scheduled for Tuesday, June 29, 2004 from 9
a.m. to 3 p.m., via the Texas Education Telecommunications
Network (TETN). The TETN session will be held in
the Pecan Room at the ESC Region 12 in Waco and
will be broadcast to the Satellite Centers at Copperas
Cove, Corsicana, Hillsboro, and Teague. Directions

Registration is available online only.
The purpose of this session is to provide you with
an opportunity to review and provide comment on proposed
performance-based monitoring indicators in bilingual
education, career and technology education (CATE),
special education, and certain federal programs under
the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. These indicators
are part of a larger system that will be used by TEA
to evaluate school districts and charter schools during
the 2004-05 school year. In the near future, the agency
will offer additional opportunities for you to review
and comment on other components of the system as well
as the system as a whole.

Since copies of the documents will not be available
at the session, please make copies and bring them
with you to the meeting.Your participation during
this TETN session is welcome. If you or your representative
is unable to attend, you may order a taped version
of the session from Angela Love at alove@esc12.net,
or call her at 254 - 297-1249. You may also submit
comments on the proposed indicators to pbm@tea.state.tx.us
no later than July 1, 2004.
