7th ANNUAL STATEWIDE EVALUATION
CONFERENCE FOR
SPECIAL EDUCATORS SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 21, 2004
Waco, Texas--—“Evaluation:
Making the Reading Connection,” is the theme
for the seventh annual Statewide Evaluation Conference
for Special Education Evaluation Personnel. The conference
will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan.
23, 2004, at the Omni Bayfront Hotel in Corpus Christi,
Texas.
The statewide conference is organized
by Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12 in Waco,
with assistance from the other 19 Texas ESCs. A variety
of speakers will present topics on reading, dyslexia,
learning disabilities and evaluation methods. The
purpose of this conference is to bring new information
on evaluation to school personnel and provide networking
opportunities with people across the state involved
in Special Education. Approximately 700 participants
will attend the three-day event, and among those will
be educational diagnosticians, licensed specialists
in school psychology (LSSPs), speech and language
pathologists (SLPs), special education directors,
teachers, and counselors. 16.5 hours of CEU TSHA credits
will be pending for attendees.

Please Note: Dr. Robert Pasternack
has resigned his position with the US Dept. of Education
and will be unable to present at this year’s
conference. Chris Borecca and Gene Lenz will be there
to present on the same topic (Update on the Reauthorization
of IDEA).
