The ESC Region 12 Safe and Drug Free
Schools and Communities (SDFSC) Program offers services
to school districts to develop and implement comprehensive
prevention programs. This program is designed to help
prevent violence and substance abuse among our youth,
promote school safety and create a disciplined environment
conducive to learning and creativity.
The ESC Region 12 operates a Shared Services Agreement
(SSA) among districts and charter schools to share federal
Title IV SDFSC funds. Currently there are thirty-four
districts and five charter schools that are Shared Service
Arrangement members. The Safe and Drug-Free Schools
Shared Service Arrangement members receive customized
professional development and services.
ESC Region 12 also offers professional development
events for all educators, including DAVE (Drug And Violence
Education curriculum).
Prevention at ESC Region 12 is cross-functional. We
work closely with counseling, Service Learning, parent
involvement, and health.
Because we cannot prevent everything, ESC Region 12
coordinates the Region 12 Crisis Response Team and updates
the Campus Crisis Management Template.
