| Education Service Center Region 12 not only
serves educators and students. We have built a tradition
of serving our community throughout the year. Just
as we are committed to providing professional development
and technical assistance for schools, we understand
the importance of community support. Many of the
agencies and projects we support have a direct impact
on the students and their families in our region.
Whether it’s raising funds for the area United
Way or collecting toys for needy students, ESC Region
12 is committed to Serving Our
Schools, Serving Our Community. See a snapshot of our activities below.
United Way Campaign ~ ESC Region 12
exemplifies organizational citizenship through the
support of United Way. Staff hold many events throughout the year including bake sales, penny
wars, cook-offs and silent auctions to raise money for United

and a jacket drive in December.
Center and Department
Holiday Giving Projects ~ Holiday projects are a regular part of the giving spirit
of the ESC. Departments often adopt holiday projects
in lieu of exchanging gifts between personnel. Supported
projects include the annual Toys for Tots drive, Storybook Christmas, monetary
donations, groceries and jackets for needy families,
items for an Angel Tree child, and Ringing bells for
The Salvation Army Bell Campaign.
Susan G Koman Race for the Cure ~ Every year, a group
of employees pull out their tennis shoes and sunscreen
to participate in this area event. The group number has
grown over the years, and many staff also participate
in the Sleep for the Cure if they can not be present
for the event.
Poinsettia Donation to Local
Retirement Center ~ The Center purchases poinsettias for the center poinsettia
tree. Employees and customers alike love seeing the tree
every year. Following the Holiday Lunch in mid-December,
a group of employees take the poinsettias to a local
retirement center.
Special Projects ~ One can always find a few staff members
leading the Center to opportunities of giving, such as
raising funds for the American Red Cross in the aftermath
of Hurricane Katrina, and collecting items to send to
troops in Iraq.
Our staff often rally together to help their colleagues
during times of illness and loss. Our personnel are known
for quietly and respectfully raising funds for an employee
with a terminal illness to taking care of one’s
lawn during prolonged times of illness. The center is
a family of individuals who are always ready to care,
share and support others.
